In another famous play of his, His Girl Friday (2003), the concept used was about the cinema and the audience was made to feel as if they were in a film studio in Los Angeles because the play was based on cinema. In The History Boys (2004), Crowley used the concept of classrooms in a grammar school showing furniture, school lighting and atmosphere, and soundtrack of 1980. The set totally portrayed a school environment. In Tarzan (2006), the set used the concept of a painted ship sailing on a painted ocean. The ship was painted on silk fabric so that it twirled and moved to give the feel of sailing in the ocean.
We see that Crowley has been using amazing concepts in his set designs (Cityfile Inc, 2011) right according to the demand of the play plot, and created such atmosphere in his sets that made the audience feel as if they were actually there in that point in time and space.
