FDI investment which today forms the backbone of development in the Indian economy is still at a range of 9.1% in Tamil Nadu. The state is the most urbanized the country. Despite these statistics, the major industries in Tamil Nadu continue to be small and medium based industries that thrive on the trade of agricultural commodities like rubber and flowers among many others. The principle and the most successful among these being the Rubber Park, Apparel Parks, Floriculture Park, TICEL Park for Biotechnology, Siruseri IT Park, and Agro Export Zones among others. The state is also the third largest exporter for software parts in a country that is now known as the software hub of the world. The following tasks would be undertaken as part o the research:
The research will prove the underlying hypothesis that it is not necessary to hold big industry and big names for inking a success story where commercial accomplishments are concerned.
Entrepreneurial ability and a culture of efficiency and government support to the SME mechanism can prove to be a potent mixture where the economic success of a state set up is concerned. With this hypothesis we present the research proposal.
The greatest challenge will be the fact that the research is based on human nature and feedback available from the entrepreneurs and businessmen in the state. There will automatically be issues of authenticity because people in surveys more often that npot state what the think would be the ‘correct answer’. The research keeping this in mind will utilize a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods.
